Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge
Lake Manyara Serena is a comfortable, but rather unexciting hotel, but it does have one of the country’s best swimming pools. There are also possibly the best views of Lake Manyara and easy access to the park for game drives. Lake Manyara Serena is a fair quality hotel within easy reach of Arusha and very close to Lake Manyara National Park. It sits on the top of the Rift Valley escarpment overlooking the northern end of Lake Manyara.
The lodge glows with tranquility and peace. The design was inspired by the area’s abundant bird life – swooping curves are complemented by soft, geometric patterns and stylish plaster moldings adorn the walls. Accommodation and public areas are housed in individual thatched circular buildings and are a tribute to local architectural traditions. The lodge has 67 bedrooms and a stunning swimming pool with exceptional views of Lake Manyara. Activities, which are one of the lodge’s specialties, include daily excursions to the Great Rift Valley and National Park, walking safaris, mountain bike and canoe safaris, mountain climbing, nature walks and traditional dance performances in the evenings.

The lodge sleeps a maximum of just 44 people. The lodge is set high on the edge of the Great Rift Valley, enjoying a marvelous, uplifting and panoramic view eastward over Lake Manyara, the Rift floor and Mt. Losimingori. Behind Kirurumu, the Ngorongoro Highlands rise in green and fertile splendour and form the gateway to the Ngorongoro Crater. Kirurumu offers a wide range of activities, which aren’t available in national parks and that in themselves make this a place worth staying at. Cycling on mountain bikes down to the eastern edge of Lake Manyara and walks from camp can easily be arranged.
